Alleywave: Canopy of Colors

Alleywave: Canopy of Colors is a temporary, large-scale installation featuring 60 community-designed satin panels suspended above Downtown Historic Fairburn. Alleywave weaves together visual reflections from over 50 students, organization members, and club participants from local organizations to highlight the city and what makes the community special. These reflections were collected during creative workshops that I led, focused on color harmony & color theory. Each reflection started as a black-and-white template that I created, and is then given to a student or community member. Once full of color, they were digitized and translated into a unique satin panel. These panels formed a 70-footlong skyward installation that transformed the alley into a vibrant, energetic, colorful space. Produced by Dashboard and the City of Fairburn, this project was so well-received when we did it in 2023, that I was asked to do it again in 2024. Participating organizations include: Southside Theater Guild, South Fulton Studios, Landmark Christian School, Girl Scout Troop 3802, National Black Arts Foundation, and Sylvan Middle School.
